In support of Bulgarian vine varieties and wines to preserve their identity, Executive Agency on Vine and Wine as a Lead Partner on the Project SOS for endangered traditional vine varieties with acronym "VineSOS" established an experimental field with grafts identified as endangered local varieties of vines.

In the territorial scope of the Project are Blagoevgrad region, Smolyan region, Kardzhali region and Haskovo region. The identified varieties are: Tamyanka, Keratsuda, Gergana, Dimyat, Sandanski Misket, Bouquet, Shevka, Red misket, Mavrud, Ruen, Shiroka Melnishka loza, Pamid, Rubin and Melnishki Rubin.

All agrotechnical activities were carried out in the field, incl. construction of a support structure and an automated irrigation system to meet the requirements for good agricultural condition. The field will ensure the sustainability of the Project and will serve for future research and distribution of the varieties.
